Lancaster County Workforce Data Release for February 2024

HPO Update

Put forward by the Center for Workforce Information & Analysis (CWIA) each year, the High Priority Occupations (HPOs) list informs each county about which occupations are in high demand by employers. These occupations need to have high skill needs as well as provide family sustaining wages. For more information on HPOs, please click here. To see the current list of HPOs for 2023-2024, please visit the Data & Trends Section of our website.

The main three industries represented by the HPO list are probably ones you might have heard about on the news, Manufacturing (SOC Code 51-0000), Maintenance and Repair(SOC Code 49-0000), and Office Support (SOC Code 43-0000). In Lancaster County, Maintenance and Repair Workers continue to be in high demand, with almost 330 active job ads in the past month alone! Other jobs in high demand in Lancaster include First Line Supervisors of Production and Operating Workers, Production Workers, and Customer Service Representatives.

Outside of jobs within those HPO industries, jobs in high demand in Lancaster County include Retail Salespeople, Registered Nurses, and Social and Human Service Assistants. While these jobs may not make the HPO list, they’re important to Lancaster County’s economy nonetheless.
