January Data Release

Lancaster County experienced a positive shift in the labor force in December by adding employment and jobs, while decreasing the number of people unemployed. The December 2021 unemployment rate remained unchanged from the prior month, however with an increase in the total labor force (+200) and a shift of +200 into employment, Lancaster experienced an overall increase of employed to 266,000.

Seasonally adjusted non-farm jobs grew +1,300 over the month, contributing to +7,300 job growth since December 2020. This month, Trade, Transportation and Utilities experienced the most expansion, while Government contracted the most due to Universities being on winter break.
