The Lancaster County Workforce Development Board (LCWDB) helps businesses grow, thrive, and compete in a global economy. With LCWDB’s guidance, Lancaster businesses can equip job seekers with knowledge and in-demand skills that promote economic mobility and prepare residents for the workforce of the future. As part of the workforce ecosystem, we are committed to fostering community collaborations that promote equitable opportunity for all.

What is workforce development?

Workforce development stimulates economic mobility for all by helping businesses grow and thrive, preparing young adults to enter the work world, and providing opportunities for people to get back into the workforce– no matter their circumstances. Most of all, community workforce development boards determine how workers can get from training or education to steady employment in the local economy. The Lancaster County Workforce Development Board (LCWDB) is doing just that for the Lancaster area.

Pennsylvania’s economic stability and growth relies on a strong workforce and opportunities for workers. LCWDB brings together federal, state, and local funding and programs to make that a reality in Lancaster County. By creating career pathways to jobs that support families, the LCWDB keeps workers and companies in Lancaster.

Founded in 1999 as the successor to the Lancaster County Private Industry Council, the Lancaster County Workforce Development Board (LCWDB) is authorized through the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014 to be the lead Lancaster County’s workforce planning. LCWDB does this by providing business with locally-validated labor market information and coordinating services that meet the workforce needs of both businesses and the public alike.

Among our many initiatives, the LCWDB administers funds and oversight of PA CareerLink(R) Lancaster County. You can learn more about PA CareerLink(R) Lancaster County, a comprehensive job center for Lancaster City and County residents, by visiting www.jobs4lancaster.com.
